Displayit® Graphics: Outlining Text

  • The process of outlining text converts all letters into vectored shapes.
  • Outlined text lets the printer open your art successfully without needing the font used. This ensures that your text layout will appear correctly on your graphic.
  • The drawback to outlined text, is that the text cannot be changed/edited.

Steps to outline text in Illustrator:

  1. Make sure all text layers are unlocked
  2. Select all of the text (Mac: Apple A) (PC: Ctrl A)
  3. On the "Type" menu, select "Create Outlines" (Mac: Shift Apple O) (PC: Shift Alt O)
  4. Save your file
  5. Send your file to Displayit
