The Opportunity: Web/Technical Project Manager

Job opening posted January 24, 2019

We are looking for a technical project manager to build marketing technology applications for use by Displayit. As part of Displayit's Marketing Advantage Team, you'll be helping to connect our Clients with the products and programs that will give them a competitive advantage at their exhibiting events.

What You'll Get to Do:

We will rely on you to convert technology-driven business objectives into reality.

  • Translate business needs into geek-speak.
  • Develop project plans and specifications.
  • Collaborate on functional aspects of UI/UX design.
  • Select platforms compatible with Displayit's IT Roadmap.
  • Work with Displayit's IT team to ensure systems compatibility and security.
  • Oversee programming activities, including:
    • Build - code portions of home-grown apps that are within your skill set, and work with partners to develop the portions that aren't.
    • Buy - select vendors to deliver coding resources or apps/plugins needed to deliver a project.
    • Coordinate - serve as Displayit's technical liaison who will keep projects on time and under budget and call out partners who are blowing smoke.
  • Document what you build.
  • Maintain what you build (fix and/or improve, but not operate).

You will be finding ways to improve Displayit (and yourself!), consistent with Company Values #9: "We embrace new technology and new ideas", and #7: "We can always make it better".

Project Examples:

  • Set up Web portals dedicated to specific Clients, or specific Displayit business units.
  • Oversee the building of new website features.
  • Build Client-facing apps that deliver unique, specific functions and provide Displayit with competitive advantage.

What We'll Need From You

The candidate we select for this position will need to bring with them proven experience with:

  1. Working in HTML5, XML, ASP.NET, CSS and various forms of JavaScript.
  2. Ability to read or manipulate this type of code with no hesitation.
  3. Thorough understanding of both front- and back-end development practices.
  4. Successfully leading and managing outside development teams.
  5. Following critical Web security guidelines.
  6. Writing technical specifications and user stories.
  7. Writing and compiling documentation.
  8. Coding integration skills.

We will need you to demonstrate your experience, perhaps by pointing to several complex coding projects that you have delivered on your own.
